The process of trying to create this album was a big motivation for me to learn how to record.
Clay and I wrote four long tracks over the course of a year, recorded some demos, and then finally went into the home studio of a friend and worked for a couple months on recording final parts.
Then, out of nowhere, he disappeared, ceased answering calls, and we had nothing. So we started over with Kevin at his house, recording drums first in a large wooden room (mic in the stairwell, Bonham-style) and adding guitars to it later. Anytime you redo something, it's less exciting than doing it the first time, so we lost interest in it and moved on to other projects.
Part of the reason I started learning audio engineering was to help gain control over the tracking process and ensure things like this didn't happen in the future.
